At the crossroads of the Engage5G&Beyond project led by b<>com, and the 5G4AGRI project led by Pays de la Loire Chamber of Agriculture, b<>com and its spin-off Obvios have tested the deployment of a 5G network on the Derval experimental farm. The goal is to demonstrate the benefits of private 5G for Smart Agri use cases. An opportunity for the IRT to explore new applications for its innovations, this time at the heart of agriculture.

Complementary projects

As part of the 5G4AGRI collaborative project, the Pays de la Loire Chamber of Agriculture creates a 5G test platform from which farmers can benefit. The aim is to make their daily lives easier, thanks to high-performance, secure connectivity capable of transferring large quantities of data in near-real time.

The Engage5GandBeyond project aims to build and operate a network of open, national, and sovereign platforms offering services for 5G experimentation. Led by b<>com, it brings together several players: CHU de Rennes, Eurecom, EDF, Nokia, Orange, Images & Réseaux.

Connectivity for agricultural use cases

On October 17, at the Derval experimental farm, b<>com and Obvios took part as a technology provider in the 5G connectivity section. This network will enable new technologies to be used reliably anywhere, allowing market gardening robots to track actions and detect abnormal animal behavior via artificial intelligence.

Several use cases specific to agriculture have been tested: crop robotics, monitoring of grazing animals, remote surveillance and monitoring of animals in buildings with AI assistance, veterinary telemedicine, and distance learning.
