The GenAIforPublicGood hackathon took place before the Summit for Action on Artificial Intelligence. These two intensive days brought together more than a hundred international experts around one goal: to address critical public interest challenges with sovereign AI solutions. And they concluded with the success of the b<>com and Orange team: their legal assistant prototype is the winner of the "High-Impact Use Cases with APIs" challenge!
AI solutions for the public interest
Organized by the Direction Interministérielle du Numérique and its incubator ALLiaNCE and endorsed by the "AI Convergence" challenges of the France 2030 plan, the GenAIforPublicGood hackathon consisted of two intensive days of designing concrete artificial intelligence solutions to respond to identified needs in public services.
Over 100 digital professionals came together in 18 teams to work on one of two challenges: "High-Value Algorithms" (focusing on fundamental advances in AI, such as machine translation, speech synthesis, or geospatial analysis) and "High Impact Use cases with APIs" (applying AI to create practical tools providing new or better services to citizens).
An intelligent assistant for analyzing and summarizing criminal cases
In this second category, the b<>com and Orange team has distinguished itself with its De Facto solution. This legal assistant can synthesize at least a hundred pages of large criminal files. It also enables questions to be sent directly to a chatbot, retrieving the requested elements, whether text, handwritten or digital, or images. This tool can halve the time needed to analyze a criminal file, freeing up prosecutors and litigants for their core missions.
Presentation at the AI Action Summit
The team then presented its solution during the Summit for Action on AI at BPI France Business Days. At this event organized by the Direction Générale des Entreprises, 3,000 French and international economic players gathered at Station F to highlight the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence for business development and transformation.
