An innovative cement recycling technique: turning demolished buildings into...cement! by newscientists.com
Researchers have developed an innovative method for producing cement from demolished building waste. This offers a promising solution for reducing the greenhouse gas emissions associated with cement production, which account for 7.5% of total emissions.
This recycling technique involves transforming the cement paste from demolished buildings into clinker, a key cement component. It could potentially save up to 3 gigatonnes of carbon dioxide per year, equivalent to India's annual emissions.
However, challenges still exist before this new technique can be widely adopted.
