With the rapid development of offshore wind in France, targeting an ambitious 18 GW installed by 2035 and 45 GW by 2050, the Wind Power Alliance is committed to supporting industry players throughout the entire lifecycle of wind farms: from design to operation, including manufacturing, grid connection, maintenance, and recycling.
Key challenges identified include:
- Designing ever more powerful wind farms located further from the coast.
- Large-scale manufacturing and assembly of very large components.
- Grid connection, maintenance, monitoring, and security of installations.
Four Institutes, complementary expertise
- France Energies Marines develops tools and technologies for wind farm design and their environmental and socio-economic monitoring.
- IRT Jules Verne specializes in advanced manufacturing processes and component recyclability, particularly for large-scale parts.
- b<>com provides private 5G connectivity and cybersecurity solutions, essential for ensuring the reliability and security of offshore wind farms, notably through secure data transmission, predictive maintenance, and the integration of advanced services such as digital twins and industrial IoT.
- SuperGrid Institute optimizes the electrical architecture of wind farms by developing key technologies for conversion, grid connection, and integration, as well as innovative subsea connection hubs to reduce costs and enhance operational flexibility.
Concrete solutions for the industry
The Wind Power Alliance offers a comprehensive range of services, from project management support, studies, qualification, deployment, and maintenance to data analysis. It provides industry players with monitoring tools (drones, sensors, floating Lidar), in-situ inspection and diagnostic solutions, as well as structural sizing and reliability services.
