To become proficient in high-quality end-to-end services, meet the needs of various industries, and offer a better user experience, it is necessary to find solutions for broadband mobile and IoT that are coordinated with access networks and core networks alike.

The Advanced Connectivity lab is helping this change come about by designing software and hardware solutions ranging from radio access (massive MIMO, millimeter waves, new FECs) to core network infrastructure (SDN architecture, CUPS, and micro-services) that can address these new needs. The lab relies on expanded areas of skill such as radio, signal processing, systems on-chip (SoC), Software-Defined Radio (SDR) platforms, software development, and cloud infrastructure. It handles these subjects by offering architecture upgrades that restructure the functions toward the Edge network.

Sub-sampling of channels with time and frequency sparsity access

This paper shows that sub-sampling of signals can help in reducing the amount of data to be processed and stored when time and frequency sparsity is considered. The context is the one of the Internet of Things (IoT) for which a huge quantity of users (i.e. objects) communicate with very few time and frequency accesses. Taking advantage of the occupancy theory of probabilities, we propose a…

Firewall Policies Provisioning Through SDN in the Cloud

The evolution of the digital world drives cloud computing to be a key infrastructure for data and services. This breakthrough is transforming Software Defined Networking into the cloud infrastructure backbone because of its advantages such as programmability, abstraction and flexibility. As a result, many cloud providers select SDN as a cloud network service and offer it to their customers…
